For the Dogs

I’ve grown up with dogs and have almost always had them around. I am not at a point in my life to be privileged enough to have one of my own. However, a Weim named Pollock will be my best friend as soon as I get a yard! My coworker brings his lab to work with him and I occasionally get the privilege to take her to the kennel and other such things. This morning was one of those days.

I must say, dogs are doing it right. It doesn’t matter how long their best friend has been gone; they greet them with the same enthusiasm whether it has been a few minutes or a few days. They don’t worry about the little things. Dogs stretch it out every chance given and they just don’t care if anybody else thinks they are goofy. In fact, they are loved even more because of those little quarks. A dog has such a love for life that it exudes from them into every room and place he or she goes. It is a light that brightens even the darkest of days. Regardless of how bad a day I have had, a dog always makes it better. Why can’t people be more like dogs – forgive and forget, love truly unconditionally, be enthusiastic about everything (even going to the bathroom)?

Go take a car ride on a beautiful day. Man, dogs are cool.

Journey of Life

“Until you love yourself and all of your imperfections, you cannot accomplish anything.”

There are no truer words and for some reason, no truer words for me today. The only person in charge of your happiness is you. Once you have come to terms with this realization, life will open up.

Life can be hard. Each person is fighting his or her own battles. If you keep a positive outlook and know that everything happens for a reason, there are no limits to what can be achieved. So, just because bad days happen – it doesn’t mean that you have a bad life. Keep smiling your way through life, be a positive influence on others and have fun! Life is a journey not a destination.

The above quote is from Lucille Ball, by the way.
